Reclamation is the largest wholesaler of water in the country and second largest producer of hydroelectric power in the western United States.

The purpose of this project is to develop and test a new vertical full duplex Passive Integrated Transponder (PIT) tag antenna system for use in canals and rivers.

The system will be able to detect out-migrating salmonid smolts that may be moving in the upper half or third of the water column with minimal/no impact to threatened and endangered species or human activities (such as recreation).

Data regarding PIT tag information collection efficiency that spans the full water column to detect passing tagged fish will be disseminated publicly and allow fishery managers to better estimate fish populations and enhance their ability to effectively manage fish populations
