Embassy Colombo is pleased to announce the call for abstracts for the 2018 Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) large grants program.

to develop and submit proposals for possible funding under this initiative.

You are invited to send project abstracts for large-scale, partnership-based projects to preserve significant cultural heritage sites in Sri Lanka and Maldives through this program.

This opportunity is open to reputable and accountable non-commercial entities, such as non-governmental organizations, museums, ministries of culture, or similar institutions and organizations, including U.S.-based organizations subject to Section 501(c)(3) of the tax code, that are registered and active in SAM.gov and able to demonstrate that they have the requisite experience and capacity to manage projects to preserve cultural heritage.

The AFCP large grants competition takes place in two rounds:
Project Abstract (Round 1) and Full Project Proposal (Round 2).

Only those applicants whose abstracts are successfully reviewed will be eligible to develop and submit full proposals for round 2.

Floor on Amount of Awards:
US $200,000 per project.

Since 2008, awards made through this program for new large-scale projects have ranged from $200,000 to $979,000 with an average award amount of $480,00 0.

The deadline for receipt of abstracts is December 6, 201 7.

Fully developed project proposals for successful abstracts will be due February 1, 201 7.
