Family Strengthening Scholars

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation (OPRE), will solicit applications for Family Strengthening Research Scholars grants to support dissertation research on healthy marriage/responsible fatherhood policy issues.

These grants are meant

to build capacity in the research field to focus on questions that have direct implications for healthy marriage/responsible fatherhood policy decision-making and program administration, and to foster mentoring relationships between faculty members and high-quality doctoral students.

These grants are intended to address issues of significance to inform policy decisions and solutions, particularly for underserved/understudied populations (e.g., low-income families, minority populations), utilize rigorous research methodology (including primary data collection and/or secondary data analysis), and help inform the development of future intervention research.

Additional Information of Eligibility:
The dissertation mentor who will serve as principal investigator, must have a Ph.D.

or equivalent in their respective field and conduct research as a primary professional responsibility.

Faculty members with doctoral training and research expertise will be able to provide proper supervision and quality control over the research project to help ensure an ethical approach and a quality end product.

The applicant organization must have a history of research and budget oversight and must have appropriate resources to support the student's work.

The graduate student is expected to have an approved dissertation proposal by the application due date (or no later than August 31, 2019) and must submit evidence with the application submission or by August 30, 2019.

Faith-based and community organizations that meet the eligibility requirements are eligible to receive awards under this funding opportunity announcement.

Applications from individuals (including sole proprietorships) and foreign entities are not eligible and will be disqualified from competitive review and from funding under this announcement.
