Women Shaping the Narrative in Media and Entertainment

The Public Affairs Section of the U.

S.

Consulate General in Chennai (PAS Chennai) seeks proposals for a project entitled “Women Shaping the Narrative in Media and Entertainment.” Under this project, a grantee will conduct series of workshops and training programs on “Women

First, Prosperity for All:
Opportunities for Women in the Media and Entertainment Industry in South India.” The workshop will highlight issues that preclude and challenge women from reaching their full potential in this industry and find practical solutions to address them.

It will also highlight the economic and creative benefits of having more women in the workforce in this sector.

PAS Chennai would like to invite representatives from a U.

S.

institution that has addressed the issues listed above on issues of gender imbalance and bias in the media and entertainment industry.

They should be able to share experiences and practical solutions that have creatively and successfully to a large extent remodeled content and practices to achieve equity in the workplace, with excellent economic results.

The U.S.-based institution will target film associations, business associations, and senior representatives of the film and media industries, including producers, directors, writers, studio heads, women’s collectives and other stakeholders from the South India film industry to encourage more women to join and contribute productively to this industry.

The workshops will be conducted in Trivandrum and Chennai, which is home to two of the biggest film and entertainment industries in South India.

The workshops will conclude with a reception in each city for about 40-50 invited guests.
