Karabo ea Bophelo (KB) Activity in Lesotho

orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Lesotho.

The strategic objective supports Government of Lesotho (GOL) multi-sector strategies and priorities for HIV mitigation and prevention, with an emphasis on minimizing negative impacts of HIV on OVC and AGYW, addressing social, behavioral and structural drivers of HIV, and improving access to comprehensive sexual reproductive health (SRH) services to prevent new infections.

This Activity will contribute to the shared priority of the GOL and the United States Government (USG) to significantly reduce the number of new HIV infections in Lesotho by 2020 and beyond.

The KB Activity will contribute to Development Objective 2 (“Reduced impact of HIV/AIDS on the region”) of the USAID/Southern Africa Regional Development Cooperation Strategy (RDCS).

The KB Activity will contribute to achievement of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and UNAIDS 95-95-95 goals by strengthening community platforms to engage with, and support the devolution and scale up of, clinical services at the local level.

The KB Activity will be implemented in all the ten districts of Lesotho, which are also PEPFAR priority areas and will coordinate closely in these areas with existing services funded by the GOL, PEPFAR and other development partners.
