San Joaquin County to upgrade local transit projects

San Joaquin County has received a state grant amounting to $350 million from the California Department of Transportation and this will be used toward some high-profile public transit projects. Among the local transits to receive funds are Metro Express line amounting to $1.7 million, RTD in the amount of $800,000, Calaveras Council of Governments amounting to $80,000 and Amador County’s transit system in the amount of $750,000. Altamont Commuter Express trains will be given $4.3 million for the maintenance and layover facility while $450,000 will be given to the city of Lodi intended for two phases of a transit-fare collection system.
