Please carefully follow all instructions below.

Program Objectives:
This opportunity is for the implementation of a Department of State Sports Envoy Program featuring two American athletes, such as members of the Harlem Globe Trotters, for a one-week visit to Cameroon on the theme “Promoting Excellence and Resilience through Sports.” The program will highlight the role of sports in developing teamwork spirit and fostering respect for “fair play” and diversity.

One of the events will be in a refugee village in the east region of Cameroon and will seek to enhance the sense of belonging and sustain hope for a brighter future within this vulnerable group.

Suggested activities will include:
1.

Youth Clinics for young athletes aged 10-16, in the cities of Yaounde and Bertoua.

Each clinic will bring together 50 youth, with an equal number of boys and girls.

In addition to sports drills, the clinics will enhance participants awareness on the importance of teamwork, hard-work, and respect for diversity.

2.

A seminar for coaches and sports educators to share best practices in sports education; 3.

An exhibition game in Yaounde, at Palais des Sports or any other similar venue, to showcase the unique skills of the Sports Envoys and engage the audience on sports as a means to promote excellence, respect for diversity, and resilience; 4.

An exhibition game for an underprivileged group in the East region of Cameroon; 5.

Media appearances to showcase the extraordinary skills of the Sports Envoys to a broad audience of Cameroonians.

6.

Each exhibition game should include side events such as musical performances, parades, etc.

During each of the events, creative activities should be envisaged to underscore the overarching message:
sports as an instrument of peace, solidarity and empathy, social inclusion, and justice.
