Ocean Conservation Projects in Developing States: Advancing Marine Protected Areas and Reducing Nutrient Pollution

The Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs (OES) Office of Conservation and Water at the Department of State announces the Notice of Funding Opportunity for Ocean Conservation Projects in Developing States:
Advancing Marine Protected Areas and Reducing Nutrient Pollution.

OES seeks proposals in the following three categories and in the corresponding geographical areas.

These projects are all pending the availability of funds:
Category 1:
Projects to improve compliance capacity in marine protected areas (MPA) in the Latin America the Caribbean region:
Up to one or two awards not to exceed $495,000 will be funded for projects that will improve compliance capacity in Marine Protected Areas in the Latin American and Caribbean region with emphasis in Panama, The Bahamas, Belize and Honduras Category 2:
Projects to create more effectively managed MPAs in East Africa:
Up to one or two awards not to exceed $297,000 will be funded for projects that will support an effective management of Marine Protected Areas in East Africa with emphasis Madagascar, Comoros, Mauritius, Seychelles, Tanzania, Kenya, Mozambique, Somalia, and Djibouti.

Category 3.

Projects to reduce nutrient pollution in waterways, coastal waters and the ocean:
Up to one or two awards not to exceed 247,500 will be funded for projects to reduce nutrient pollution in waterways, coastal waters and the ocean.
